Hi my beloved readers! I know I’ve disappeared for a while from the blogosphere. Yes i’ve officially landed in Melbourne and settled in at my apartment. I’ve been busy packing, unpacking, shifting, buying, building, cleaning, going to offices to do paperwork, getting bank account done, phone line done, and the one most important thing that’s not here is my IMAC!!!! Gah!! I have no idea where it is, i’ve sent the package out via air courier almost 2 weeks ago and still no sign of it. Hopefully it’ll arrive this week so i can do some ACTUAL blogging. I’ve taken so many pictures over my few days here. So much to show, so much so share!!!

I’ve just started my school orientation today and it was just great! I have attended local art schools and nothing compares to my current design institute. Seriously, Singapore has a lot to catch up in terms of the arts and culture scene. Even the simplest details of the school,- the pristine toilets impress the bejewels out of me. My school work studio resembles a New York soho loft with giant panel windows and huge airy spaces with unfinished cement flooring. Sweet. :)  I’m also the only Singaporean in the entire campus. Haha must do us proud hey? hehe :)

Do bear with me during this period of time as i get my tech stuff set up. Meanwhile i’ll see what i can do with my prepaid internet. :p

Stay cool

Hi there, I know I haven’t blogged for several days now. Pity, because i’ve bubble wrapped and shipped off my imac which stores all my pictures and data. So i’m blogging right now from my macbook which doesn’t have most of the photos and i’ve yet to upload new pictures from my cameras. So i hope you stay patient for me to get back to some serious blogging. Meanwhile i’ll try my best with my macbook! Good things are worth waiting for eh?!

My room and house are in a mess right now!!!!!!!! Oh my god, whoever said packing was easy?! Someone told me, treat it like you’re packing for a holiday, just three years long. -.-”"”" I forgot to mention that my three year long ‘holiday’ consists of 3 autumns and winters, going to design school which requires sketching pads in all sizes, watercolor pads, pencils, markers in all tones, sewing equipment and everything else you can think of relating to fashion school. Also because i intend to bring my nail services over there, I have nail stuff to pack in too!!!! Don’t even get me started on my shoes, clothes accessories and makeup. You ask, why not just buy there? EXPENSIVE, OKAY? I earn $1 to spend $1.30 there!

So like a typical middle-aged cannot-resist-a-good-offer aunty, I set off buying winter clothing here during the post christmas/CNY sales (some of you might have spotted me lugging huge paper bags around town). Running around compiling my art technical list which would have cost me a bomb if i’d placed an order with the school. I managed to settle 80% of my list at 1/3rd of the price. *grins smugly* Planning how to get all the things over there is another issue altogether. The strategy was this, I gathered a group of very nice ‘donkeys’ (i don’t mean it in a derogatory way!) consisting of friends living in Melbourne who happen to visit Singapore, pilot friends, and future visiting friends!  I’m set! ;]

Meanwhile. I’m not packed. I’m seriously unpacked for a girl with a lot of belongings and scheduled to leave Singapore in about 4 days. Okay to be fair, everything that needs to be packed in are organized, but instead of being IN the boxes, they are stacked outside and on top of the boxes. :D I’m so screwed. Yay. Moving overseas is no easy feat. Especially if you are doing the packing, planning and paperwork all by yourself. I’m glad though, this experience taught me to be more organized, don’t always do things last minute, and learn to relax when the time calls for it. No need to be uptight and drive yourself mad over a few hiccups (am talking about myself, having already done the driving myself mad part) haha.

So far i’ve already had several lovely farewell gatherings with my closest, dearest friends. Dinners, karaoke and tonight STEAMBOAT DINNER AT HOME! Woohooo!!! Screw packing!!!! I’ll compile a post of these gatherings soon.

Right now (taken before my 15 kg imac was wrapped up) i need to get my stuff sorted out. SERIOUSLY.

How i wish i could just close my eyes, abacadabra and *poof* everything will be neatly packed into boxes, sealed and ready for flight! OKAY STOP DREAMING CLARA!

A tad blurry, but this is a rough snapshot of the pieces i did for my entrance portfolio. It got me in :) I had to come up with several cohesive pieces of designs and put a concept together. I had to write an entrance essay and felt a bit like the girl from Spanglish because i mentioned my mum and how she inspired me even as a child to pursue what i love.

We need to sometimes follow our heart and pursue the work that we love and would eventually bring meaning to our lives no? :)

Happy CNY everyone! Are you bursting at the seams with pineapple tarts and love letters and all the oh-so-good goodies that cny brings? I HAVE! In fact I’m trying to eat and stuff myself as much as i can since i’ll be leaving sg pretty soon and might not be back for cny next year :( *crossing fingers that i will* Taking this opportunity to spend as much time with my family as possible since it’ll probably be months before i get to see them again. I have mixed feelings, of course the elation that i’m about to embark on a new adventure, but at the same time can’t bear to leave my loved ones and friends behind. Also, because i’ve been so busy with appointments and organizing my move, the excitement hasn’t quite kicked in yet. -.-

I hope it will soon. I do feel a slight tingle down my spine when i see photos like that. Breakfast in Degraves street, going to underground parties and soaking in the vibrant arts scene. Taken when i was in Melbourne last august.

Okay I take my words back. I’m frigging excited right now. :D

Fresh in! I had a Melody attack from two clients today. Insisted that they go all the way out with the nail art today because I was leaving. They didn’t want to let me off the hook so easily! So for old times’ sake, here goes. :)

This color is just gorgeous. This shade of  nude (Dinner for two OPI) is perfection for me, good enough for nail art base or french base or even on it’s own! I’ve done many nail art variations with this color and they all turn out fab. :)

Many people have asked me what i do for exercise. I like activity based work outs so that rules out the gym and repetitive routines that bore me to death. I like to surf, but no can do on our wave-less beaches so the only other form of  exercise I like that relaxes me completely and keeps my weight in check. I’m not a fitness buff or anything, I just like working out enough for my sweat to break out, endorphins to kick in and feeling shiny and happy for the rest of the week. Yoga is something i’ve surprisingly stuck with for about a year and i’ve been with these two instructors, Sumei and Lynn now conducting classes at Verita Wellness. They emphasize on proper posture, placement of hands and muscle conditioning so in future, you can be strong enough to take on more challenging poses. What I love is I can go on a per session basis and not be sold to death on buying a package and most importantly, they truly care for your wellness both physically and spiritually. It has helped me very much throughout the whole time i’ve attended their classes. I have a bad day at work, relationship woes or just plain negativity surrounding me, yoga always helps me breathe and focus. Ever since they moved their classes to Pheonix park, I fell in love with the classrooms. Huge, airy, bright and full of greenery. I’m no yogi, but i thought yoga did me very well so i’ve decided to share this little nugget of information with anyone who is interested. Google for Verita Wellness spa if you like what you see and keen to try the classes out. Don’t need to quote anything/anyone as this is not an advertisement. It’s a recommendation to my lovely readers from my heart :)

Recently my pal Karen or better known as Renzze painstakingly baked a batch of lovely macarons and presented me with a box of it. How freaking awesome eh?! Observe the beautiful colors!

Here’s a picture of it being halfway munched on. This is the sesame flavored one where she pounded and dry fried the seeds so the macarons were aromatic with the oils. Superb. Laduree, you have a competitor. By the way the color on my finger is OPI’s Black cherry chutney. :)

Much love xx

Ok i’m kidding. Or maybe not! ;p I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do an illustration based on these beauties. Unfortunately now isn’t the time, too busy with appointments and packing up for down under. Art materials are going into boxes soon.

Cruise anyone?

I’ve been packing my stuff into boxes and been busy getting all my paperwork done. Scanning, printing, scanning and more printing. Compiled my art materials list at a local art store and saved  a FORTUNE. Went for my medical the other day and got turned away because i GOT MY PERIOD!!! Worst part of it is I can only go back 10 days after it’s over. Oh the delay. -.-”

ANYWAY. I took a picture of all the shoes i’m going to bring with me to Melbourne. Anyone interested in seeing them? :D
