Hi there, I know I haven’t blogged for several days now. Pity, because i’ve bubble wrapped and shipped off my imac which stores all my pictures and data. So i’m blogging right now from my macbook which doesn’t have most of the photos and i’ve yet to upload new pictures from my cameras. So i hope you stay patient for me to get back to some serious blogging. Meanwhile i’ll try my best with my macbook! Good things are worth waiting for eh?!
My room and house are in a mess right now!!!!!!!! Oh my god, whoever said packing was easy?! Someone told me, treat it like you’re packing for a holiday, just three years long. -.-“””” I forgot to mention that my three year long ‘holiday’ consists of 3 autumns and winters, going to design school which requires sketching pads in all sizes, watercolor pads, pencils, markers in all tones, sewing equipment and everything else you can think of relating to fashion school. Also because i intend to bring my nail services over there, I have nail stuff to pack in too!!!! Don’t even get me started on my shoes, clothes accessories and makeup. You ask, why not just buy there? EXPENSIVE, OKAY? I earn $1 to spend $1.30 there!
So like a typical middle-aged cannot-resist-a-good-offer aunty, I set off buying winter clothing here during the post christmas/CNY sales (some of you might have spotted me lugging huge paper bags around town). Running around compiling my art technical list which would have cost me a bomb if i’d placed an order with the school. I managed to settle 80% of my list at 1/3rd of the price. *grins smugly* Planning how to get all the things over there is another issue altogether. The strategy was this, I gathered a group of very nice ‘donkeys’ (i don’t mean it in a derogatory way!) consisting of friends living in Melbourne who happen to visit Singapore, pilot friends, and future visiting friends! I’m set! ;]
Meanwhile. I’m not packed. I’m seriously unpacked for a girl with a lot of belongings and scheduled to leave Singapore in about 4 days. Okay to be fair, everything that needs to be packed in are organized, but instead of being IN the boxes, they are stacked outside and on top of the boxes. 😀 I’m so screwed. Yay. Moving overseas is no easy feat. Especially if you are doing the packing, planning and paperwork all by yourself. I’m glad though, this experience taught me to be more organized, don’t always do things last minute, and learn to relax when the time calls for it. No need to be uptight and drive yourself mad over a few hiccups (am talking about myself, having already done the driving myself mad part) haha.
So far i’ve already had several lovely farewell gatherings with my closest, dearest friends. Dinners, karaoke and tonight STEAMBOAT DINNER AT HOME! Woohooo!!! Screw packing!!!! I’ll compile a post of these gatherings soon.
Right now (taken before my 15 kg imac was wrapped up) i need to get my stuff sorted out. SERIOUSLY.
How i wish i could just close my eyes, abacadabra and *poof* everything will be neatly packed into boxes, sealed and ready for flight! OKAY STOP DREAMING CLARA!

Sometimes we just need to follow our hearts
A tad blurry, but this is a rough snapshot of the pieces i did for my entrance portfolio. It got me in 🙂 I had to come up with several cohesive pieces of designs and put a concept together. I had to write an entrance essay and felt a bit like the girl from Spanglish because i mentioned my mum and how she inspired me even as a child to pursue what i love.
We need to sometimes follow our heart and pursue the work that we love and would eventually bring meaning to our lives no? 🙂
